How to Change the Paper Background Color in Microsoft Word
The white background color on a sheet of Microsoft Word document paper may look empty and unattractive.
Luckily, you can still change the paper background with another color and you can even use an image too. Here’s a guide.

# 1 How to change the paper background color
1. Open a Microsoft Word document.
2. Click the tabs Design.




3. Click Page Color then select the color you want to use.


4. Done. Now the paper color has been changed.


# 2 How to make a gradient background color
1. Open a Microsoft Word document.




2. Click the tabs Design.




3. Click Page Color > Fill effects.



4. Select Two colors then specify the color of each.


5. Select the gradient style (direction), then click OK.


6. Done. The document background color becomes gradient.


# 3 How to replace the paper background with an image
1. Open a Microsoft Word document.




2. Click the tabs Design.




3. Click Page Color > Fill effects.



4. Select a tab Picture then click Select Picture…


5. Select an image source. If it’s on a computer/laptop, then select it From a file.


6. Select the image then click Insert.


7. Click OK.


8. Done. The paper background has been replaced with an image.


Whether it’s choosing colors, gradients, or images, make sure the text remains clear and easy to read. It is recommended to choose a background that is quite contrasting with the text.
