How to Get Rid of Website Shortcuts in Chrome’s New Tab
After a website is visited continuously, Google Chrome will display the website shortcut in a new tab so that it will be easier for users to visit it again without typing the address.

Unfortunately, not all users like this feature. Moreover, these shortcuts represent any sites that are frequently opened, and this is a separate privacy issue.
However, these shortcuts can be easily removed because Chrome already provides such an option in the latest version. Make sure you have Chrome updates before following this guide.
How to remove website shortcuts in Chrome

In the tutorial below, you will find out how to remove the shortcut on the desktop Google Chrome new tab. As a result, the area previously occupied by the shortcut becomes empty and only the search bar remains.
- Go to a new Chrome tab and click it Customize.
- Choose Shortcut.
- Enable option Hide shortcuts.
- Click Finished.
- The website shortcut disappeared.

The shortcut is not deleted, it’s just hidden. If you want to bring it back, just activate the option My shortcut or Most visited sites as shown in step #3.
